Explore the Revolution

August 19, 2026

You might be surprised by just how much Revolutionary history you can explore in Downeast Maine.

Walk through a British fort in Castine. Learn about the Penobscot Expedition. Explore Wabanaki history and perspectives. Step inside a tavern built in 1770. Then stand overlooking Machias Bay, where the first naval battle of the American Revolution took place.

For the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we’ve mapped out a 2-day trip connecting museums, historic sites, forts and stories across Downeast and Acadia.

August 17, 2026

What a way to celebrate 50 years of the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival! 🫐💙

From all the good food and local artisans to fun activities throughout the day, the festival musical, and so much happening around downtown Machias, it was such a fun weekend celebrating one of our favorite Downeast Maine traditions. And of course, the perfect way to wrap up Saturday, the Blueberry Ball with live music! 🎶

Wild blueberry harvest is a long standing late summer tradition in Downeast Maine

August 14, 2026

For generations, berries have been hand-raked from the barrens, and that tradition is still very much part of harvest season today. Alongside the hand rakes, mechanical harvesters now help bring in this iconic Maine crop.

The tools may look a little different, but every August, the barrens are harvested just as they have been for generations, a tradition deeply rooted in Downeast Maine.

Foggy Days

August 5, 2026

Don’t let the fog fool you, it doesn’t ruin the view, it becomes part of it. Some of the prettiest days on the Downeast Maine coast are the foggy ones. Slow mornings, quiet harbors, and a coastline that feels a little more magical. Around here, fog isn’t bad weather… it’s a vibe.

Beautiful Stonington

May 2, 2026

Stonington isn’t just beautiful, it’s one of Maine’s most iconic working waterfronts ⚓🦞

As one of the busiest lobster landing harbors in Maine, this is where tradition, livelihood, and the sea all come together.
