Winter Harbor Light

Winter Harbor has long been a favorite safe harbor for mariners seeking shelter from storms. In 1856 this light was built for $4,000 to guide vessels to the harbor and warn of dangerous ledges.

Privately owned, in recent years the lighthouse has been occupied by writers.

The lighthouse can be seen from the loop road in Acadia National Park's Schoodic Section. It can also be seen from tour boats.
