Pumpkin Island Light

President Pierce authorized the building of this light in 1852. It marks the entrance to Eggemoggin Reach. In the 19th century this area was heavily traveled by vessels carrying lumber as well as summer pleasure craft.

Privately owned today, the light can be seen easily from the shore of Little Deer Isle at the end of Eggemoggin Road and from the water or the air.  For more information on the light and how to view it and get your ligthhouse passport stamp, visit the Deer Ilse Lighthouse Trail website.
