Moose Peak Light
President John Quincy Adams authorized the building of this light on the east point of Mistake Island, about 5 miles from Jonesport. The first light was finished for $4,000. In 1982 a military team blew up the keeper's house as a training exercise.
The light is still an active aid to navigation.
Moose Peak can be seen distantly from Great Wass Island. It is best seen by private boat or plane.
