Columbia Falls
This small downeast town is rich in history and tradition. It was part of Columbia from 1796 until 1863, when it became a separate town. Visit the Ruggles House Museum and its unique flying staircase or stop at the Wild Salmon Resource Center and learn about the efforts being made to restore Atlantic Salmon to the downeast rivers. If you visit in the early spring, you won't want to miss the Smelt Fry, a local tradition that benefits the salmon project and celebrates the area's fishing industry.
