Buds of Spring
Spring starts to color the world here in April as the daffodils and crocuses peek up, sometimes through the lingering snows. It is a gradual process that is well worth the wait as the apple and cherry buds brighten up the roads and hillsides. By the end of May, not only are the lilacs in bloom, but the many birds that migrate to warmer climes are back and the longer days and warming temperatures offer birders and wildlife enthusiasts stellar opportunities to catch a glimpse or hear a song. Rare seasonal delicacies such as fiddleheads or smelts are here for the asking and local events start to pick up with celebrations of spring, while town bands tune up for their summer schedules.
