Blueberries of Summer

Everyone loves the long, warm summer days, the bunting-draped houses celebrating the 4th of July, window boxes teeming with red, white and blue flowers, the town festivals the hikes along the shore or in the mountains and, of course, the lobster suppers on the shore or public suppers at local churches or legion halls. Hike the trails in Acadia National Park. Or explore our gorgeous and varied gardens and our State Parks and Public Reserve Lands with views that are spectacularly rewarding.

Many local artists have their studios open where you can see the creative process in action and talk to them about their work.

Pick your own berries or buy some from the roadside to make into a pie or to eat as you explore.
Antique shops or local stores rich in products made in the area (search Region 2 in the link) are great places to find mementos of your visit to take home.

And did we mention our wild blueberries? These are not only healthy, they are delicious and you will want to try them in all their variations...in ice cream and pie, chocolate covered or as a savory accent in mustard and salad dressings. And they are great just by the handful too...
