Historical Societies

Nearly every town and every area of DownEast & Acadia is in close touch with its history through the local historical societies.

Some sponsor historic home or building tours or special events and many have special exhibits that really give insight into the community.

Check locally for their hours or call them–many are open by appointment as well . And if you have roots in DownEast and Acadia, the local historians are wonderful sources for anecdotes as well as documenting family histories and genealogies.
