The Arts in all their many forms are thriving in DownEast & Acadia.

Concerts, theater, and dance spanning from classical to rock to folk and country are held in theaters, coffee houses and village halls. Many of the art schools hold recitals and performances of their students and faculty which are open to the public as well.

From traditional folk art such as weaving or rug braiding, to sculpture, painting and pottery, there are many opportunities for art enthusiasts to enjoy. You might even try your own hand at something new for a creative vacation experience.

Events and trails in the area are often organized around artists and their work. Some groups of artists have put together routed for those interested in visiting their studios. Others hold concerts, classes and exhibits throughout the year as well as festival celebration art in the region and local communities.

Stories and storytelling are a tradition here too. From local legends and ghost stories to oral histories and authors who have been inspired by our region, there is much to be discovered.

Culinary delights span the spectrum from lobster bakes on the beach, to casual family fare to elegant gourmet dining. But whatever your preferences, you will find the food fresh and delicious. Lobster pounds, public suppers, picnics on the beach as well as gourmet restaurants offering the freshest of ingredients are all here to cater to you.
